A near surreal, somewhat extra-terrestrial scene presents itself, in the early hour of daylight in the Never-Never regions of the deserted, desert of inland Australia — Gondwanaland.
[Today’s continents that were a part of Gondwana include Australia, Antarctica, South America, Africa, and the regions of the Arabian Peninsula and the Indian subcontinent. which have now moved entirely into the Northern Hemisphere.]
• The “Inside Australia” exhibition by internationally renowned artist, Antony Gormley. Apart from 2 or 3 passers-by the 51 sculptures are derived from laser scans of the inhabitants of Menzies. The sculptures stand scattered over 10 square kilometres of the salt lake, named Lake Ballard, approximately 55km west from the township of Menzies.
